Ava DuVernay was born on August 24 1972 on the 24th of August 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay was motivated to pursue her love of art by DuVernay's aunt Denise at the age of a small kid. Aunt Denise was a nurse, who was a night shift worker so she could devote her days to theatre and literature as well as art. DuVernay loved the film West Side Story, which she introduced to her.
